Frequently Asked Questions

What does Doorways offer the community?

Doorways provides pre-qualified residents of Seekonk with groceries once a week, each Saturday from 8-10am. Our mission is based on the premise that the more we support those needed our help, the stronger our community can become.

What guidelines are required to receive food?

Individuals or families needing our support must be a Seekonk resident and pre-qualified by Seekonk Human Services to ensure that income guidelines have been met. Click here to view the USDA guidelines. For households not already registered with Doorways, please contact Seekonk Human Services at 508-336-8772. If you have a food emergency, call during office hours--Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 8:30am-4:30pm, Wednesday 8:30am-5:30pm and Friday 8:30am-12pm.

If I don't live in Seekonk, can you share some other food pantries in the area so that I may receive food?

Yes, click here to view a list of area food pantries. Please contact them directly to receive information about services and qualifications.

What kinds of donations are accepted?

Doorways accepts charitable donations in all forms (refer to our Make A Gift page) as well as non-perishable groceries. Perishable products are accepted, but it is necessary to contact us in advance at DoorwaysFoodPantry@gmail.com or call 508-761-6380.

If I shop at Doorways, can I bring my own shopping bags?

Yes, please bring your recycled grocery bags. If you don’t have any, we will supply you with bags.

Why should I volunteer?

Simply said, it is good for you.

Studies show that when you volunteer…

  • You make connections with other volunteers to tackle challenges facing your community.

  • Even helping out with a small task can make a big difference in the lives of others.

  • Connects people and helps strengthen bonds between friends, family, and coworkers.

  • Improves self-esteem.

  • Improves physical health and longevity.

Can my son/daughter volunteer to fulfill high school community service?

Yes, we welcome high school students to volunteer even if it is short-term. We love having students witness and participate in our mission of strengthening our community and lives.
